Music from the end of the world.

Midnight Looms 043 – YVES JARVIS – February 16 2021

We have an amazing guest joining us tonight, via Zoom, from his home in Montreal. YVES JARVIS is on the show! If we had to describe his sound, we would say he makes “AVANTE-PSYCHEDELIC-FOLK-POP” but even that doesn’t quite describe it. He’s doing his own thing and it’s amazing and we love that. Yves writes, records, and mixes his music almost completely alone. He records predominantly outdoors, and each of his albums has a different colour theme. This latest one, titled SUNDRY ROCK SONG STOCK is green. We play a selection of tunes from the album while chatting with Yves about all of those wonderful things that make him so unique. We even get down to some real talk. Whether you’re already a fan or a curious late-night music lover, this is not an interview to be missed!

It’s BLACK HISTORY MONTH so we begin this ride with an ode to the Civil-Rights Movement pioneer and true god of music that is BILLIE HOLIDAY. WE ARE NOT WORTHY! Our host, GOBS, then drops a short selection of songs by acts with connections to our home city LONDON, CANADA. Tunes by SHAD and JUNIA-T FT. FAIZA, with BRAND NEW SOUNDS from AKUA and HAVIAH MIGHTY. The episode concludes with Yves Jarvis selecting some fresh stuff from JENNIFER CASTLE and SARAH DAVACHI, alongside CLASSICS from CAPTAIN BEEFHEART, and THE BAND. That’s before Gobs takes back over to end the night proper. A STONER JAM by SLUM VILLAGE’s ELZHI, new music from MADLIB, and even a NEW SEGMENT we call SAMPLE CHAIN.

All that happens in this HOUR OF MUSICAL POWER that we call MIDNIGHT LOOMS. Wow!

Do you make music? We want to hear it, so SEND YOUR SUBMISSIONS! or hit us up on our SOCIALS.
